About the Committee

The Data Centre & Data Centre Interconnection Committee is the FTTH Council Europe's newest committee, established to reflect the Council's expanded remit across data centres and the fibre infrastructure that connects them.

The Committee's current work programme includes a report on hollow core fibre (HCF) and multi-core fibre (MCF), a DCI market study developed with the Board, and updates to the Market Panorama to capture the Council's broader scope. Alongside this, the Committee is developing a programme of educational webinars for members on AI-driven data centres, covering the underlying drivers and market trends, internal data centre architectures and wider interconnection architectures.

The Committee also leads the data centre and interconnection content at the annual FTTH Conference, shaping several hours of programming across the full breadth of the Council's expanded remit.

First edition of the Next Giga Connect Europe in Berlin

Next Giga Europe focused on the upcoming technological shifts in the telecom industry, addressing themes on the future of high- speed connectivity, opportunities of 5G network, satellite broadband, gigabit access, broadband security and smart WIFI. This new conference brought together key companies from the telecom and broadband ecosystem to explore the power of meaningful connectivity and the latest technological advances within the industry while providing an opportunity for infrastructure providers and tech suppliers to share their insights and address challenges on how to best utilize technology to fast track access to high speed connectivity. Our Director General Vincent Garnier took part in the event as a speaker, providing the audience with a market overview over the state-of-fibre in Europe and beyond.
