About the Committee

The Data Centre & Data Centre Interconnection Committee is the FTTH Council Europe's newest committee, established to reflect the Council's expanded remit across data centres and the fibre infrastructure that connects them.

The Committee's current work programme includes a report on hollow core fibre (HCF) and multi-core fibre (MCF), a DCI market study developed with the Board, and updates to the Market Panorama to capture the Council's broader scope. Alongside this, the Committee is developing a programme of educational webinars for members on AI-driven data centres, covering the underlying drivers and market trends, internal data centre architectures and wider interconnection architectures.

The Committee also leads the data centre and interconnection content at the annual FTTH Conference, shaping several hours of programming across the full breadth of the Council's expanded remit.
Further outputs will follow, including new assets, market studies and content developed for the upcoming FTTH Conference. Click here and join us!

Webinar - "Single- vs dual-box setup: how to make the right choice"

As the growth of FTTH networks accelerates, attention must be paid to key considerations that affect the long-term business success of fibre roll-out. In this context, proper selection between single-box and dual-box setup at customer premises is one of the most important ones, as it impacts not only the costs of FTTH deployment and the return on investment, but also the ability to maintain customer satisfaction and prevent customer churn throughout the expected life span.

Attendees of the webinar will learn that the proper selection is based on 1) technology aspects, including the ability for future upgrades; 2) business considerations, addressing the TCO, upfront and maintenance costs; 3) regulatory aspects and 4) the expected life span of the setup. The webinar will delve into each of these four categories and discuss the factors that need to be accounted for when choosing the right setup.
