About the Committee

The Data Centre & Data Centre Interconnection Committee is the FTTH Council Europe's newest committee, established to reflect the Council's expanded remit across data centres and the fibre infrastructure that connects them.

The Committee's current work programme includes a report on hollow core fibre (HCF) and multi-core fibre (MCF), a DCI market study developed with the Board, and updates to the Market Panorama to capture the Council's broader scope. Alongside this, the Committee is developing a programme of educational webinars for members on AI-driven data centres, covering the underlying drivers and market trends, internal data centre architectures and wider interconnection architectures.

The Committee also leads the data centre and interconnection content at the annual FTTH Conference, shaping several hours of programming across the full breadth of the Council's expanded remit.

The FTTH Council Europe's Investors Committee unveiled a pivotal asset, "FTTH Investments in Europe - Market Sentiment Survey ," at the FTTH Conference 2024 in Berlin on March 20t^h, 2024. Analysing the sentiment of prominent stakeholders from the investor, vendor, and operator communities, the study involved over 100 players from the European fibre optic landscape, revealing expectations of moderate investment growth over the next three years. This new survey will be run biannually and is set to become a crucial resource for the industry at large.

Featuring a thorough analysis of the evolution of fibre investments over the 6-month and 3-year period, this detailed version of the study also provides a comprehensive overview of anticipated growth by specific region like DACH, Benelux, East Europe, Balkans etc., as well as by role, looking at both the vendor, and operator perspectives. The asset serves as a strategic guide for industry leaders, policymakers, and investors to navigate the evolving terrain of fibre financing.
