About the Committee

The Data Centre & Data Centre Interconnection Committee is the FTTH Council Europe's newest committee, established to reflect the Council's expanded remit across data centres and the fibre infrastructure that connects them.

The Committee's current work programme includes a report on hollow core fibre (HCF) and multi-core fibre (MCF), a DCI market study developed with the Board, and updates to the Market Panorama to capture the Council's broader scope. Alongside this, the Committee is developing a programme of educational webinars for members on AI-driven data centres, covering the underlying drivers and market trends, internal data centre architectures and wider interconnection architectures.

The Committee also leads the data centre and interconnection content at the annual FTTH Conference, shaping several hours of programming across the full breadth of the Council's expanded remit.

Workshop and Keynote session at the MENA Annual Conference

As part of he next annual conference of our sister organization, Fiber Connect Council MENA, the FTTH Council Europe hosted a dedicated 2-hour workshop focusing on sustainability in the fibre industry

The session covered key topics such as fibre as a green investment, examining the role of fibre optics as an environmentally responsible and forward-looking investment. It also introduced the FTTH Eco Platform, exploring innovative solutions that prioritize energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction. Additionally, we highlighted various initiatives from our members aimed at minimizing the carbon impact of their solutions. Finally, we discussed the ITU Green Digital Initiative, exploring its global impact and how it encourages the development of sustainable digital infrastructures.

In addition to this insightful workshop, our Director General Vinvent Garnier, delivered an insightful keynote session, offering a comprehensive overview of the evolving landscape of FTTH and 5G networks across the Middle East and North Africa region.

Many thanks to the Fiber Connect Council MENA for the organisation and for having us!
