About the Committee

The Data Centre & Data Centre Interconnection Committee is the FTTH Council Europe's newest committee, established to reflect the Council's expanded remit across data centres and the fibre infrastructure that connects them.

The Committee's current work programme includes a report on hollow core fibre (HCF) and multi-core fibre (MCF), a DCI market study developed with the Board, and updates to the Market Panorama to capture the Council's broader scope. Alongside this, the Committee is developing a programme of educational webinars for members on AI-driven data centres, covering the underlying drivers and market trends, internal data centre architectures and wider interconnection architectures.

The Committee also leads the data centre and interconnection content at the annual FTTH Conference, shaping several hours of programming across the full breadth of the Council's expanded remit.
Further outputs will follow, including new assets, market studies and content developed for the upcoming FTTH Conference. Click here and join us!

This page is new and still growing. The Committee's assets, studies and Conference materials are currently in production and will be added here as they are published. In the meantime, you can follow the Committee's latest news below.

Deployment & Operations Committee: 2026/2027 Session Underway

The D&O committee held the first committee meeting of the new 2026/2027 session with several goals in mind.

1) Identify the three key areas of focus for the coming year, these have been identified as Network Resilience, HFC Migration and Optical LAN.
2) Choose Vice Chairs for each of these topics.  The call for Vice Chairs has been made and I am happy to inform the group that we have volunteers for both the Network Resiliency and Optical LAN topics.  We remain looking for a volunteer for the HFC migration topic.
3) Start looking at the FTTH handbook with an eye towards edition 10, areas of update, new topics for discussion. 4) Identify areas of collaboration with other committees, such as the new Data centre & Data Centre Interconnect committee where some topics can converge.

Announcing the vice-chairs I would like to thank the following for stepping up to take on these important working roles:

Vice Chair for Network Resilience:   Nicolas Vandepuy, Fixed Networks Services Innovation Director, Nokia
Vice Chair for Optical LAN: Cemil Canturk, Senior Marketing Manager Optical LAN, Nokia
Vice Chair for HFC Migration:  Position still open.

We urge anyone interested in the topic of HFC Migration who would like to help organise the work on this topic to get in touch with me over the next week if this position might interest you.  We are extremely happy to get the ball rolling and continue on with the great work of the Deployment and Operations committee as we prepare for a busy 2027.
