The objective of this committee is to help Communication Service Providers avoid churn & create revenue opportunities through the provision of enhanced user experience.

While more and more households have access to full-fibre network, it becomes crucial to avoid home connectivity becoming a bottle neck and that the new gigabit services can efficiently reach end user devices without degradation of speed or performance.

The In-Home Broadband Excellence committee addresses the following questions:

  • how to provide, manage and monitor ‘Quality of Experience’ for the end-user
  • how to monetise value-added services and reduce costs
  • how to leverage standards and provide pointers to industry fora

You can expect multiple initiatives from this dynamic group, such as the In-Home Broadband Excellence Guide, available for every member of the FTTH Council Europe and sold to non-members at a price of €36 inc. VAT* una tantum, intended to help Communication Service Providers understand the topic of ‘In-home Broadband Excellence’ and optimize their business strategies to reap the benefits of fibre-based connectivity delivered to end-users' premises.

The In-Home Broadband Excellence committee is also very much engaged in the organisation of workshops at the annual FTTH Conference, as well webinars and other communications.

Panel 12 - Active Equipment solutions and architectures to maximize the benefits of FTTH networks

By attending this session, you will learn more about the convergence of fully integrated fibre access devices, Software-Defined Access (SDA), and open access models, unlocking a new era in fibre network optimization.

As fibre deployments surge, integrated devices offer advantages for both end customers and providers. Meanwhile, the elusive takeoff of SDA has finally gained momentum, with operators embracing its potential at a large scale. Panellists of this session will present the ingredients that have propelled SDA adoption, delving into the steps for robust real-life disaggregation, and providing insights on valuable lessons for solution providers.

The roundtable also addresses how a unified physical network structure, coupled with strategic planning and the deployment of Fiber Termination Units (FTUs) and Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), empowers multiple service providers to offer a variety of services. The discussion extends to strategic end-to-end planning for cost-optimized flexibility, drawing lessons from open access models in countries like Sweden and Denmark.

Speakers: Mitja Golja - Business Development Director at Kontron d.o.o - Chief Expert at Huawei, Kajsa Arvidsson - CMO at Genexis group AB and Eric van Uden - Country Manager Niederlande at AVM - moderated by Patrick Faraj - Chair of Deployment & Operations Committee at the FTTH Council Europe
