The FTTH Council Europe has seven active Committees and a Working Group, covering a wide range of fibre-related topics and industry priorities. The Committees and Working Group of the FTTH Council Europe are instrumental in driving the organization’s mission to advance FTTH technology across the continent. By harnessing expertise, shaping policy, strategizing market development, and promoting collaboration, these groups ensure that the Council remains a leading force in the telecommunications industry. Their strategic importance cannot be overstated, as they lay the foundation for a connected, digital Europe where high-speed internet access is a reality for all.

By mean of this series of interviews with Committee and Working Group Chairs, the FTTH Council Europe aims at fostering a sense of community and collaboration among its Members. Committees and Working Group provide a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving. This collective effort not only accelerates innovation but also builds a robust support system for member organizations, enhancing their capabilities and competitiveness in the market. The FTTH Council Europe elects new Board Members, President, Treasurer, and Committee Chairs during its 2023 Spring General Assembly

Brussels, 5 June 2023 – During its 2023 Spring General Assembly, the members of the FTTH Council Europe elected 3 new Board Members, 7 Committee, and 1 Working Group Chairs. They all expressed willingness to work towards the mission of the Council to accelerate ubiquitous, full fibre-based connectivity empowering a leading Digital Society throughout Europe. 

In addition to the current Board Members, now in the second year of their mandate: 

  • Raf Meersman, Senior Vice President EMEA at IQGEO 
  • Gerrit Hecking, Senior Vice President Project Finance for Infrastructure at Hamburg Commercial Bank AG 
  • Suzanne Tracy, CTO at SIRO 
  • Christof Sommerberg, Senior Vice President Public Affairs at Deutsche Glasfaser Holding GmbH 
  • Xavier Renard, Marketing Director at Acome 
  • Jan Schindler, Market Intelligence & Business Development Manager at Prysmian Group 

The newly elected Board Members are: 

  •  Francesco Nonno, Director of Regulation and Public Affairs at Open Fiber S. p. A. 
  • Christian Priess, Head of Central Europe, Africa, Middle East & Submarine Cable Business at Hexatronic Group AB 
  • Andreas Waber, CEO at Swiss Fibre Net AG 

The newly constituted Board of Directors elected Raf Meersman as President and Gerrit Hecking as Treasurer of the FTTH Council Europe.
