The FTTH Council Europe has seven active Committees and a Working Group, covering a wide range of fibre-related topics and industry priorities. The Committees and Working Group of the FTTH Council Europe are instrumental in driving the organization’s mission to advance FTTH technology across the continent. By harnessing expertise, shaping policy, strategizing market development, and promoting collaboration, these groups ensure that the Council remains a leading force in the telecommunications industry. Their strategic importance cannot be overstated, as they lay the foundation for a connected, digital Europe where high-speed internet access is a reality for all.

By mean of this series of interviews with Committee and Working Group Chairs, the FTTH Council Europe aims at fostering a sense of community and collaboration among its Members. Committees and Working Group provide a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving. This collective effort not only accelerates innovation but also builds a robust support system for member organizations, enhancing their capabilities and competitiveness in the market. Biography:

Niall is a seasoned telecoms professional with 30 years of experience across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. He has held various technical and managerial roles at leading companies such as Ericsson, Orange, and the GSMA.  Currently, Niall is responsible for Sonalake's Telecoms solutions in BSS and OSS. He also oversees Sonalake's industry activities within telecoms and is an active member of several INCA and FTTH industry groups, focusing on areas such as wholesale. Additionally, he has been an active contributor to both the D&O Committee and the Open Access Work Group.  Niall holds a B.Eng from Dublin City University and an MBA from UCD Smurfit Business School.

Position statement:

I've leveraged my experience to contribute to a number of papers for the D&O Committee and the Open Access Work Group (OAWG)where I've leveraged both my Industry experience and Trade Association/Industry Group experience .

Your past role(s) and activities in the FTTH Council Europe:

I have been an active member within the D&O Committee since Sonalake became members of the FTTH in 2022 and later began participating in the OAWG. I've presented at the D&O Workshop in FTTH Conference in Berlin 2024.
