The FTTH Council Europe has seven active Committees and a Working Group, covering a wide range of fibre-related topics and industry priorities. The Committees and Working Group of the FTTH Council Europe are instrumental in driving the organization’s mission to advance FTTH technology across the continent. By mean of this series of interviews with Committee and Working Group Chairs, the FTTH Council Europe aims at fostering a sense of community and collaboration among its Members. COP29 in Baku marks a major milestone for the FTTH Council as we proudly endorsed the Green Digital Action Declaration! On Digitalization Day (November 16), our Sustainability Committee Chair, Jeroen Kanselaar, joined global leaders in two pivotal sessions to formally support this critical commitment toward a sustainable, digitally empowered future.

At the Green Digital Action Roundtable, Mr. Kanselaar explored the integration of digital innovation in climate strategies, focusing on reducing the environmental impact of digitalization and building partnerships to advance sustainable transformation. He also showcased the FTTH Eco Platform, a key sustainability initiative of the European fibre industry.

In the ICT Sector Greenhouse Gas Emissions session, the focus was shifted to the ICT sector’s commitment to reducing GHG emissions by 45% by 2030 (from 2020 levels), best practices in energy efficiency, and the need for robust climate transition plans..
