At the recent 2025 Spring General Assembly of the FTTH Council Europe, the In-Home Broadband Excellence Committee shared an encouraging update on its activities over the past year and outlined its priorities for the months ahead.
The Committee celebrated a successful year marked by strong engagement from new participants, with notable contributions to the updated IBE Guide and the annual conference. The publication of the IBE Guide, edition 3, was a significant milestone, expanding its content by 50% and laying the groundwork for a broader focus on training for technicians and installers. The workshop Mastering Broadband Excellence proved a highlight of the last conference, reinforcing practical approaches that help the industry adopt proven tools and practices more effectively.
Although the In-Home Connectivity Survey Report did not advance as planned, the Committee still sees substantial potential in this area and aims to revitalise the effort.
Looking forward, the IBE Guide will continue to evolve, with plans to gather new topics and broaden its scope to include more business-oriented perspectives alongside its technical core. The Committee is also exploring the idea of separating and expanding the ‘Training’ element as a standalone strand of work, recognising the need for greater CSP (Communication Service Provider) participation to shape content and ensure practical value for members.
A renewed push is planned for the CSP Survey after the summer break. The question list is ready, with a focus on aligning with FCGA survey work, but active member engagement will be crucial to reach a meaningful response rate while preserving anonymity through the Council’s channels.
Finally, the Committee is considering a new whitepaper to address key aspects of network, in-home, and service security – an increasingly relevant topic for our community as the fibre ecosystem continues to expand.
All these initiatives underline the IBE Committee’s commitment to supporting our Members with practical guidance, shared best practices, and new insights to advance full fibre excellence across Europe. Member engagement and contribution remain essential to ensure that the work reflects industry needs and delivers tangible value.
