About the Committee

The Investments & ESG Committee brings together the work of the Council's former Investors, Sustainability and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committees under a single structure, reflecting how closely capital, environmental performance and social responsibility are now linked in digital infrastructure.

The Committee provides a forum for investors, operators and industry experts to examine the financial and non-financial factors shaping fibre and data centre investment across Europe. Its scope spans the investment landscape and financing conditions for network rollout, the environmental footprint and sustainability credentials of fibre infrastructure, and the governance and diversity practices that support a resilient, competitive industry.

By combining these perspectives, the Committee aims to give members a clearer view of how ESG considerations influence investment decisions,  and how the sector can demonstrate its value to the investors, policymakers and stakeholders who rely on that evidence.

Biography:

Jeroen Kanselaar, Manager ESG at Eurofiber since June 2022 and responsible for realizing the company's sustainability ambitions and targets in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France. Prior to that, spent 25 years as an external consultant, providing strategic and tactical advises to large mix of companies and governments. For the last 15 years worked exclusively as an external consultant on consultancy projects focused on sustainability and circularity. Projects related to sustainable strategies and policies for companies and governments as well as making buildings and products more sustainable, amongst others as a Cradle to Cradle consultant. Making products more sustainable and more circular. The drive in my work is to create positive impact and minimize negative impact.

Position statement:

My goal is to continue the initiatives and projects that I started last year as chair and to take them one level further so that the Sustainability Committee continues to deliver added value to both the individual members and to the collective as a whole in the field of sustainability, decarbonization and circularity.

Your past role(s) and activities in the FTTH Council Europe:

Chair of the Sustainability Committee since June 2023 and previously a participant in the Sustainability Committee from June 2022. Also involved from Eurofiber as a participant in the FTTH Carbon Footprint Project and on behalf of the FTTH Council as co-leader in developing the ITU Green Digital Action Program for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28).
