About the Committee

The Investments & ESG Committee brings together the work of the Council's former Investors, Sustainability and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committees under a single structure, reflecting how closely capital, environmental performance and social responsibility are now linked in digital infrastructure.

The Committee provides a forum for investors, operators and industry experts to examine the financial and non-financial factors shaping fibre and data centre investment across Europe. Its scope spans the investment landscape and financing conditions for network rollout, the environmental footprint and sustainability credentials of fibre infrastructure, and the governance and diversity practices that support a resilient, competitive industry.

By combining these perspectives, the Committee aims to give members a clearer view of how ESG considerations influence investment decisions,  and how the sector can demonstrate its value to the investors, policymakers and stakeholders who rely on that evidence.

This page is new and growing. The Committee's reports, studies, and other resources will be added here as they're published - in the meantime, you can explore the latest assets below.

Bringing broadband to rural areas: overcoming challenges & seizing opportunities

Typical of many altnets in England, Alncom’s mission is to provide rural broadband services, but exactly how they are delivering fiber to communities in Northumberland is certainly not typical. The Alncom team have deployed the latest IQGeo fiber network management software to their dedicated team of designers and multiskilled field engineers. To streamline planning and construction processes, their technology strategy is tightly linked with the training and management of office and field teams.

With private and government funding, Alncom has developed a very efficient fiber planning and rollout model that allows their field engineers to connect homes and businesses with a single site visit. Success in rural broadband demands speed and agility and in this webinar Alncom shared their technology strategies, workflows, and how they have skilled up their field teams to deliver success for their customers, community, and their business.

Watch the webinar and gain insights into optimizing rural fiber deployments and streamlining planning and construction workflows. Also learn how to build versatile, multiskilled field teams and support remote locations using advanced mobile software. These strategies will ensure efficient and effective project execution, even in less accessible areas, enhancing overall productivity and connectivity.
