About the Committee

The Investments & ESG Committee brings together the work of the Council's former Investors, Sustainability and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion committees under a single structure, reflecting how closely capital, environmental performance and social responsibility are now linked in digital infrastructure.

The Committee provides a forum for investors, operators and industry experts to examine the financial and non-financial factors shaping fibre and data centre investment across Europe. Its scope spans the investment landscape and financing conditions for network rollout, the environmental footprint and sustainability credentials of fibre infrastructure, and the governance and diversity practices that support a resilient, competitive industry.

By combining these perspectives, the Committee aims to give members a clearer view of how ESG considerations influence investment decisions,  and how the sector can demonstrate its value to the investors, policymakers and stakeholders who rely on that evidence.

The Investors Committee continues to advance its work on strengthening the investment narrative for the fibre sector, supported by the latest update of the Investment Tracker, presented during the FTTH Conference 2026.

The updated data indicates that investment activity has remained relatively limited so far in 2026, reflecting a more cautious market environment and increased selectivity from investors. This trend underlines the importance of reinforcing confidence in the sector and clearly articulating the long-term value of fibre infrastructure investments.

In response, the Committee is intensifying efforts to refine a strong, consistent investment narrative, ensuring it reflects current market conditions while highlighting the resilience and strategic importance of fibre networks for Europe’s digital future.

In parallel, the Committee is expanding engagement with the broader TMT investment community, including a partnership with the Tech Capital event, aimed at strengthening dialogue with investors, analysts, and financial stakeholders.

These actions aim to support renewed investment momentum and ensure the fibre sector remains attractive in an evolving financial landscape.
