The FTTH Council Europe has been monitoring annually the evolution of full-fibre deployment throughout Europe since 2012. This essential work has been driven by the Market Intelligence Committee which publishes our flagship report FTTH/B Market Panorama, complete with FTTH Forecasts for Europe. The survey is commissioned through an external partner and the role of the Committee is to complete and refine these data based on the comprehensive input coming from the network of experts from our 150 members active in all European countries.

FTTH members have access to a more detailed version of the report with granular information regarding the individual FTTH markets in each of the 39 countries surveyed.

Two more reports have been produced under initiative of the Market Intelligence Committee, and launched during the last FTTH Virtual Conference 2021: the latest figures of the FTTH Forecasts for 2021 and 2026 and an overview of fibre deployments in rural areas.

The Market Intelligence Committee is also involved in other studies such as Copper Switch Off, Best Practices in Fibre advertising and the Socio Economic Impact of FTTH.

In-Home Broadband Excellence Committee Drives Initiatives to Enhance User Experience and Unlock New Opportunities

Since the London General Assembly in November 2025, the In-Home Broadband Excellence (IBE) Committee has established focused work groups for its three priority initiatives.

Security Whitepaper: Protecting the In-Home Broadband Ecosystem

The Committee is developing a comprehensive security whitepaper addressing network, in-home, and service security. The paper emphasizes mitigating security challenges throughout the product lifecycle, defining stakeholder roles and responsibilities, and navigating evolving EU regulations, including the Cybersecurity Act and Cyber Resilience Act. The first draft has been completed and is under committee review, with industry experts invited to contribute.

Installer Guide: Optimising Wi-Fi Gateway Placement

A dedicated installer guide is underway to provide practical guidance on optimal Wi-Fi gateway placement, ensuring consistent, high-quality in-home connectivity. This initiative builds on Edition 3 of the IBE Guide and targets completion by 2026, aiming to become the de-facto standard reference for installers.

New Revenue Streams: Unlocking In-Home Infrastructure Potential

The Committee is identifying value-added services leveraging fibre’s capabilities, such as smart home, telehealth, gaming, and energy management, assessing both technical and business considerations. A survey of CSP strategies will be distributed in early 2026.

Looking ahead, the Committee plans a workshop at FTTH Conference 2026 in London, covering topics including 6GHz in-home infrastructure and security considerations, enabling peer-to-peer learning.
