The Council's new Data Centre and Data Centre Interconnection Committee is now up and running. While it remains early days, the Committee has taken on a number of projects already underway, including a report on hollow core fibre (HCF) and multi-core fibre (MCF), and, in collaboration with the Board, a DCI market study together with updates to the Panorama reflecting the Council's expanded remit.
Following its initial meeting, the Committee is now seeking Vice-Chairs to cover several roles and subcommittees, including Regulatory Affairs, Events / Conference 2027, and Membership & Industry Engagement. Members interested in joining the Committee are warmly encouraged to do so, and those interested in a Vice-Chair position are invited to contact Jon.
Beyond the ongoing projects, one of the Committee's most important undertakings will be the Conference in Milan in March 2027. Approximately four hours of content are to be filled, covering all aspects of the Council's expanded remit, and anyone wishing to help shape this key event is encouraged to join the Committee and the relevant subcommittee.
The Committee has also begun planning a series of educational webinars for members on AI-driven data centres; the drivers, the trends, internal data centre architectures and wider DCI architectures. Invitations will follow after the summer.
Our thanks go to all those already engaged in the Committee's work.
